Mit Wirkung vom 15.9.1990 wurde dem theologischen Seminar von dem Ministerrat der DDR auf Vorschlag des Ministers für Bildung und Wissenschaft, Prof. Dr. Hans-Joachim Meyer, die staatliche Anerkennung als Hochschule erteilt. Am 17.4.1991 wurde von der Division der Beschluss gefasst, Friedensau als alleinige Predigerausbildungsstätte für Deutschland zu betreiben.
